Who is your role model? Why?
My mom is my role model. There are so many things I could say as to why.To keep it concise, I can only say that my mom had to overcome some difficult challenges in her lifetime, but she never gives up, and her tenacity is unmatched. She did all of the heavy lifting of raising me and I am very much just like her.I am not sure I would be where I am today if she wasn’t such a great mom.
Describe what you were like at age 10.
At age 10, I was a bit “nerdy” and I already knew that I wanted to either be an archaeologist or a scientist. I grew up in the Midwest and spent a lot of time camping, fishing, and exploring the lakeshore at a campground in Wisconsin. I used to bring home interesting looking rocks and would catch frogs from the fishing pond. The desire to have a science-based career never went away, and here I am. My focus on what type of science career had changed over the years based on career prospects.
What have you gained from being a CREW Denver member?
I joined CREW shortly after moving to Denver a little over 6 years ago, and had not been involved with CREW prior to that.I would have to say that being a member of CREW Denver has helped me gain confidence when it comes to networking and marketing environmental and engineering services. In addition, I have formed some valuable friendships, and have benefitted from having a network of talented and successful women to bounce ideas off concerning my own professional development and advancement. My participation in CREW Denver activities was also a key reason my company chose to send me to CREW Network Conventions, which are an incredible experience to make new connections with incredibly talented women working in commercial real estate.
